Brief
Colour is often the last thing designers consider in a project, yet it is one of the first elements to catch consumers’ attention. For this project, reverse the design process and take colour as the starting point for designing a product.
Project Description
Grounded by the colour PINK DIC-2011, the Hushed collection is an embodiment of a shy, tender, and gentle colour. The lamp’s warm and endearing glow peeks under its veil, evoking a hint of nostalgia that lies beneath the colour.
The project started off with a deep investigation into the colour PINK DIC-2011 and its innate personality. If the colour was a matter, a form, an architecture, a human embodiment – what would it be?
These investigations served as guides in designing a product inspired by the colour itself.

If Hushed Pink (PINK DIC-2011) was an object, what would she be?
After extraction of Hushed Pink’s DNA, we sought to seek its embodiment as an object. A series of ideation processes led us to streamline three product possibilities. After further exploration, we finally found Hushed Pink’s true embodiment — a light.
The choice of Hushed Pink as a light was far from arbitrary. We found many poetic gestures and interactions which are characteristic of Hushed Pink – a gentle brush, a touch, an embrace, a blow, a hug, a whisper – all of which could all be applied to a light.
As a bedside lamp, Hushed Pink could be an intimate and personal object. Warm & welcoming, it provides its users with a sense of comfort & familiarity after a tiring day. On the other hand, its soft light shines & protects them during a deep slumber.

I am Hushed Pink, and I am a bedside lamp.
The Hushed Lamp rests on one's beside, quiet and unassuming. Every night, the lamp is rekindled with a gentle touch. It is there in one's most joyful days, as well as one's least. The lamp glows faithfully, protecting its beholder from even the darkest of nights.
